May 25, 2011 A musical spectacle Tu Warszawa will be the main event of the Polish culture festival to be held in Warsaw's Defilad Square July 1 to mark inauguration Poland's EU presidency. The festival program was presented yesterday by Michal Merczynski, director of the National Audiovisual Institute (NInA), which coordinates the event, at a press conference attended by the Culture Minister Bogdan Zdrojewski and Warsaw Mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz. All-day music shows will take place on the streets of Warsaw and on four specially erected stages, with different musical styles presented on each of them. The main stage will be put on Defilad Square while the remaining three will be located in the Mariensztat area (children's stage), at the Powisle Power Plant (Elektrownia Powisle - experimental stage) and the New Town Market Square (ethnic stage). On this day, various cultural institutions will stay open until late night. One of the highlights of the festival will be the opera "King Roger", staged at the Wielki Theater by an eminent British opera director David Pountney. In the evening, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra will play Pawel Mykietyn's Symphony No. 3 composed especially for the occasion. Source: The Warsaw Voice
