Now one other introductory activity or beginning
activity ice breaker that I use that, absolutely,
everybody loves, it's called Animal Toss.
And, what you do, is you need to get about,
well really as many as you want. I usually
use six small animals and, like a beanie baby
type animal that has a little bit of weight.
You can also use bean bags for this activity.
The way this works is we're all in a circle
and I will pick someone in the circle and
I will say to them, I'll have one bean bag
in my hand, and I'll throw it, I'll say, "Ashley."
Okay, I've thrown it to Ashley. And then Ashley
finds somebody in the circle and throws it
to her and says, "Kim." And then Kim throws
it to John and John throws it to Bill. All
the way around the circle it goes, everybody
gets one time, and then it comes back to me.
So, you want to do a practice round first
and then we want to do it for real. So, I
throw to Kim, Kim throws to John, John throws
to Bill, Bill throws to Tammy, and then it
ends up back to me. Great! You're doing great!
You think we can do it faster? Of course we
can do it faster. So this time, I throw it
at Kim. Well, unbeknownst to Kim I'm going
to pick up another bean bag and I'm going
to throw it to Kim, "Kim." And then I'm going
to pick up another one, and then another one,
and then another one. So, all of a sudden
we have six bean bags flying around the room,
and each person is throwing it back and forth
to the same person and they all end up back
with me. And, that is a wonderful activity
that everybody loves and really helps people
learn each other's names.
